Whether you’re a movie buff or not, you’ll know that nothing stands still for too long in movie land. From divorces and flings between actors to new movie releases, award ceremonies and unlikely castings, there is always plenty of news to report when it comes to the movie scene, and October will be no different.
That said; let’s take a quick peek at some of the biggest movie-related headlines that are sure to be common talking points over the next few weeks.
Pacific Rim 2 Adds Cast Member
After the spectacle that was the first Pacific Rim movie, audiences around the world cannot wait for the sequel to drop, and it is expected to hit theatres around about February 2018.
The latest cast member to join the team is Adria Arjona, better known for her role in the Wizard of Oz inspired Emerald City. She joins cast members Scott Eastwood and John Boyega in the Jaegers vs Jaigu Destroy em up.
Newest Trailer for Marvel’s Latest Hero
Last seen in the Netflix hit Jessica Jones, Luke Cage is now getting his own spin off show. Promising the kinds of destruction that would keep the lawyers over in many years of work, Luke Cage is due to hit the streaming service on September 30th.
Rosario Dawson adds the star power to this show, appearing as Claire Temple, a woman who is almost invincible, with amazing strength. This is one to look out for, and will be in many people’s watch lists this coming fall/winter.
Injury Strikes Game Of Thrones Star
Gemma Whelan has been stricken down with a back injury while filming the new season of the massive HBO Show, Game of Thrones. The Yaya Greyjoy actress had been filing with co-star Alfie Allen in a scene at sea, and for the sake of spoilers, I will say no more.
I’m sure, given that all actors and actresses would have good health insurance cover, that Gemma will be back in action very soon after getting the right medical treatment and recommended rest. If you’re in a similar situation to Gemma through no fault of your own, I recently read a great article on everything you need to know about no win no fee in personal injury claims over on the Solicitor Guru’s website.
Filming of Game of Thrones Season 7 continues in Belfast and other locations ahead of its big release next summer.
Joe Hill’s Snapshot 1988 Being Developed For the Big Screen
Joe Hill, son of author Stephen King and a very good writer just like his dad, has had his books developed for film before, with the 2013 movie Horns, which starred Harry Potter’s Daniel Radcliffe.
Now, his horror novel, Snapshot 1988 is being developed for the big screen too, which further cements Hill as a reliable source for movies. Universal has taken up the rights to develop it, should they choose to go ahead.
Considered by some to be similar to the Netflix show Stranger Things, Snapshot 1988 also goes back in time to the 80’s. And critics say that, taking the phenomenal success that Stranger Things has had into account, bringing this novel to the big screen will be a huge payoff for all involved.
