Sir Kenneth Branagh‘s planned redo of Agatha Christie’s Murder On The Orient Express has just stepped up its casting prospects and is said to be eyeing Johnny Depp and Michelle Pfeiffer for two key roles.

This article over at The Hollywood Reporter revealed the news of the potential castings.

Branagh says his adaptation, which is expected to put together an all-star cast (he was interested in Angelina Jolie but a deal never came together; other names of interest but not officially attached include Johnny Depp and Michelle Pfeiffer), will bring to the screen her depth of character and story rather than any cliched “kind of parlor game.”

Shooting on the film is expected to kick off in London before Christmas once Branagh has finished up work at The Garrett theatre in the West End where he has held a 12-month residency. The legendary British actor and filmmaker will also appear in the film.

Depp and Pfeiffer last appeared on screen together in Tim Burton’s 2012 movie Dark Shadows.
