HBO‘s new tentpole TV series Westworld debuted Stateside on Sunday evening. The 90 minute opener, which reportedly cost a whopping $25 million including reshoots, managed to attract 3.3 million total viewers on TV and on the HBO Go/HBO Now streaming platforms.
That figure is a three-year record for the cable subscription channel and actually attracted over a million more viewers that the debut of Game Of Thrones back in 2011.
The nine-episode first season, of which we expect there to be many more looking at these figures, reportedly cost a whopping $100 million.
