Espionage Date Movies We Love

kuwtj

Classy spies, Jon Hamm and Gal Gadot, team up with unlikely neighbourhood do-gooders, Zach Galifianakis and Isla Fisher in upcoming spy comedy Keeping up with the Joneses on 21st October. If you love espionage date movies with unlikely duos, mistaken identities and hidden secrets then Keeping up with the Joneses is the film for you on date night.

To mark the release we’ve pulled together a list of date films we love.

Date Night

A classic case of spontaneity and mistaken identity lands the Fosters (Steve Carell and Tina Fey) in a whole heap of trouble with the district attorney and his dirty secrets. Inadvertently caught up in the confusion, pursued by henchmen and in search of the real targets the Fosters turn their regular boring date night routine into an unforgettable experience. With surprising appearances from Mark Wahlberg, James Franco and Mila Kunis, Date Night has a few tricks up its sleeve that make for an incredibly enjoyable date movie.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith

Regardless of the recent blowout from the Brangelina saga nobody can ever take Mr. and Mrs. Smith away from them. Taking the age old trope of a spouse with a secret life, Mr. and Mrs. Smith doubles down and pits the Smith’s against each other when their competing agencies put a price on their heads. With their marriage on the line the duo team up and see off wave after wave of assassin’s in a spectacular throwback to Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

True Lies

“When he said ‘I do’, he never said what he did” – how’s that for a double life set-up? Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis star in this action comedy from James Cameron which grossed an astounding $378 million worldwide. Fronting as a corporate computer salesman Harry’s (Arnie’s) boring, run-of-the-mill life ironically drives Helen (Curtis), desperately seeking adventure, into the arms of a car salesman fronting as a spy. Full of 90s charm and trademark Arnie, True Lies is a must for those seeking whimsical easy watching.

This Means War

Starring Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine and Tom Hardy this one’s all about spy versus spy as they both vie for one girl’s attention. But when Helen (Witherspoon) gets caught up in one man’s plans for vengeance FDR and Tuck (Pine and Hardy) must put aside their differences and save the day. Pine and Hardy have great chemistry and the battle of jealousy and one-upmanship provides plenty of laughs against the backdrop of a fairly original and innocent rom-com.

Knight and Day

Talk about a case of wrong place, wrong time! June havens (Cameron Diaz) gets dragged into an inter-agency feud as Miller (Tom Cruise) attempts to clear his name and bring the real traitor to justice. This high octane ride never takes it’s foot off the pedal and makes for a worthy date night movie with plenty of laughs and fun action sequences.

The Bounty Hunter

Ex-cop meets ex-wife when his new role as a bounty hunter tasks him with bringing her in after she skips bail. Starring Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler this 2010 action rom-com from Andy Tennant is a great take on the classic road trip movie with moments of hilarity and an innocent story or rekindled romance.

Try Keeping up with the Joneses in cinemas 21st October.
