ABC planning a TV reboot of Will Smith film ‘Enemy Of The State’

ABC are reportedly planning to reboot Enemy Of The State, based around the 1998 Will Smith movie which was directed by Tony Scott and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. A pilot is now in development after being given the green light by the network.

Morgan Foehl is writing the screenplay for the pilot. Here’s the original movie’s official plot.

Corrupt National Security Agency official Thomas Reynolds (Jon Voight) has a congressman assassinated to assure the passage of expansive new surveillance legislation. When a videotape of the murder ends up in the hands of Robert Clayton Dean (Will Smith), a labor lawyer and dedicated family man, he is framed for murder. With the help of ex-intelligence agent Edward “Brill” Lyle , Dean attempts to throw Reynolds off his trail and prove his innocence.

The original movie, which also starred the legendary Gene Hackman as Lyle, grossed $250 million worldwide. Bruckheimer will also produce the proposed TV show.
