Tom Hardy is looking to play the explorer Ernest Shackleton in a new film set up over at StudioCanal. Deadline are reporting the news that the British actor will play the famous polar explorer in the new project, titled simply Shackleton, which is being written by Peter Straughan.
Shackleton famously led three British expeditions to the Antarctic, and was one of the principal figures of the period known as the Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration.
There’s no specific timeline on when this will all be happening, but Hardy has a long list of projects on the horizon, including Christopher Nolan’s upcoming Dunkirk and the TV show Taboo which he developed with his father Chip.
