I’m not one for showing off – actually that’s a lie. Of course I’m one for showing off, but when we were invited to Davenport’s Magic Shop, the oldest family-owned magic shop in the world no less, to learn an illusion or two for the DVD and Blu-ray release of Now You See Me 2, I was more than a little apprehensive.
In Now You See Me 2 The Four Horseman elevate the limits of stage illusion to new heights in an adventure that takes them around the globe. One year after outwitting the FBI and winning the public’s adulation with their Robin Hood-style magic, the illusionists resurface for a comeback performance in the hope of exposing the unethical practices of a tech magnate. The man behind their vanishing act is none other than Walter Mabry, a tech prodigy who threatens the Horsemen into pulling off their most impossible heist yet. Their only hope is to perform one last unprecedented stunt to clear their names and reveal the mastermind behind it all.
Whatever anyone tells you, we all love to be wowed by the art of magic, especially close-up magic – that’s why if you’re performing it, it’s very important to get it right. We were taught two very basic tricks during our time with Daniel and the folks at Davenport’s last week – one involving two red balls and another using playing cards, all in the name of fun for your viewing pleasure. It was a lot harder than it looks as you’ll see from our video below.
We also have an exclusive clip from the film featuring footage of Lizzy Caplan and Dave Franco practising card throwing with Lizzy catching a card in her jacket. Chief Magic and Mentalism Consultant Keith Barry features, discussing that the cast even had to practice over Christmas.
Now You See Me 2 is available to download now and on Blu-ray, DVD, Double Pack DVD and DVD Bonus Disc Edition from 7 November 2016.
Thanks so much to Davenport’s Magic Shop – make sure you visit their magical official website over here.
