Video: David Fincher storyboarded a very different ending to ‘Se7en’

It has been 21 years since Se7en was released in cinemas. Can you believe that? Arguably David Fincher‘s best movie was one of the best films of the nineties and is memorable for that ending – one that once viewed can never be forgotten. Well, did you know that Fincher actually storyboarded a completely different ending for the Brad Pitt/ Morgan Freeman crime movie?

When retiring police Detective William Somerset (Morgan Freeman) tackles a final case with the aid of newly transferred David Mills (Brad Pitt), they discover a number of elaborate and grizzly murders. They soon realize they are dealing with a serial killer (Kevin Spacey) who is targeting people he thinks represent one of the seven deadly sins. Somerset also befriends Mills’ wife, Tracy (Gwyneth Paltrow), who is pregnant and afraid to raise her child in the crime-riddled city.

He did, and the internet has it now. Posted to YouTube, albeit with poor sound, the original video, from a special edition version of the film, shows how this masterpiece may have ended up.
