I watch Westworld every week but I’m still not completely 100% of what’s going on with it. However, what I do know is that I absolutely love it and can’t wait for a Westworld season 2, as does Warner Bros. head honcho Kevin Tsujihara who has revealed that he has gigantic plans for the sci-fi series which airs on HBO Stateside and Sky Atlantic in the UK.

Speaking at the Credit Suisse Technology, Media & Telecom Conference in Phoenix, via trade bible Variety, Tsujihara said:

“I am really, really excited about the opportunity that we potentially have with ‘Westworld’. If you look at the viewer data on ‘Westworld,’ its first year viewing on all platforms is greater than ‘Game of Thrones.’ I am not saying it’s ‘Game of Thrones.’ I am not saying it’s going to be ‘Game of Thrones. But if gives you a context of where it sits this first year that just finished this week.”

It’s pilot, which aired around nine weeks ago, actually attracted more viewers than the same episode of ‘Thrones’ all of those years ago. I think it’s got legs and it’ll be interesting to see what those plans entail.

Westworld is led by Jonathan Nolan, who created this incarnation with Lisa Joy. If you’re yet to catch it, here’s the plot.

Westworld isn’t your typical amusement park. Intended for rich vacationers, the futuristic park — which is looked after by robotic “hosts” — allows its visitors to live out their fantasies through artificial consciousness. No matter how illicit the fantasy may be, there are no consequences for the park’s guests, allowing for any wish to be indulged. “Westworld” — which is based on the 1973 Michael Crichton movie of the same name — features an all-star cast that includes Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins and Golden Globe winner Ed Harris.

More news on Westworld season 2 as it comes our way.
