Little Shop Of Horrors remake on the way from the executive producer of The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl and DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow.
More on the Little Shop Of Horrors remake below.
Greg Berlanti is to tackle a Little Shop Of Horrors remake. If you’re now aware of the name, Greg is behind some of the most successful modern-day comic book TV series, including The Flash, Arrow, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and Supergirl.
The news was release as an exclusive from trade blog Deadline.
Berlanti will direct the film from a screenplay by Matthew Robinson (The Invention of Lying, In Search of Humans). The property was originally low-budget 1960 black comedy film The Little Shop of Horrors, directed by Roger Corman, and then an off-broadway musical in the 1980s with music by Alan Menken and writer Howard Ashman, which was then turned into a 1986 American rock musical horror comedy film directed by Frank Oz.
Here’s the story synopsis (taken from the cult 1986 version).
Meek flower shop assistant Seymour (Rick Moranis) pines for co-worker Audrey (Ellen Greene). During a total eclipse, he discovers an unusual plant he names Audrey II, which feeds only on human flesh and blood. The growing plant attracts a great deal of business for the previously struggling store. After Seymour feeds Audrey’s boyfriend, Orin (Steve Martin), to the plant after Orin’s accidental death, he must come up with more bodies for the increasingly bloodthirsty plant.
The musical still tours to this very day, and in fact we reviewed the latest UK tour of the much-loved production in September of this year.
The new movie is set up at Warner Brothers. We’ll have more news on the Little Shop Of Horrors remake as it comes in. We’d also love to hear your thoughts in the comments section below.
