Train To Busan remake: French company Gaumont win the bidding war to remake the Korean film in the English language.

Gaumont have secured the rights to the break-out Korean hit of the year, Train To Busan. The planned film, which will be in the English language, will actually be a co-production between France-based Gaumount and Next Entertainment World.
The original film saw a zombie virus spreading through Seoul with one of the infected makes their way onto the train of the title.
Kim Woo-taek, CEO of Next Entertainment World, said in a statement:
“We are more than happy to start our business with Gaumont, one of the greatest film companies with rich experience in terms of global projects. We hope this opportunity could let Korean films get more attention and be familiar with the audience all over the world.”
Train To Busan debuted at the Cannes Film Festival back in May this year and has since made over $87 million around the world. Most of that came from its domestic territory of South Korean where it made a whopping $80 million.
The fact that the film garner pretty universal positive praise from the world’s press, including a five-star review here on THN, surely helped.

The Train To Busan remake will see the action shifted from Korea to Los Angeles and Gaumont, who are currently packaging the film, have already been approached by some big unnamed Hollywood directing talent.
