God Particle delay

The third film in the very unorthodox Cloverfield trilogy, which is being referred to currently as God Particle, has been pushed back until October of 2017.

The film was initially set for release on February 24, 2017. Paramount Pictures don’t seem to have given a reason for the huge delay, but we’re doubting that it is bad news – just a tactic to give it the best exposure to get the most bang for its buck. Or maybe it’s a potential awards contender?

The film stars David Oyelowo, John Krasinski, Elizabeth Debicki, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Chris O’Dowd, Ziyi Zhang and Daniel Bruhl and is directed by Julius Onah and produced by J. J. Abrams.

The plot is said to revolve around a team of astronauts aboard a space station who find themselves alone after a scientific experiment causes Earth to disappear. When a space shuttle appears, the space station crew must fight for survival following their horrible discovery.

It will follow on, though will probably only be loosely connected to this year’s intense 10 Cloverfield Lane, a very well-received film that starred Mary Elizabeth Winstead and an amazing performance from John Goodman.

God Particle‘s new release date sees it go up against the planned eighth film in Lionsgate’s Saw franchise. So far that is the only film scheduled for release on that particular day Stateside.

We’ll bring you more news of God Particle as it comes our way.
