Ben Mendelsohn to play Sheriff Of Nottingham in new ‘Robin Hood’

He’s kicks backside in the new Star Wars movie, Rogue One, and now Ben Mendelsohn is set to head to middle England for the Robin Hood: Origins movie. The actor, who is just about magnificent in everything that he does, will play the villainous Sheriff of Nottingham in the forthcoming movie, which sees Taron Egerton take the title role as Hood.

Jamie Foxx is playing Little John in the film, Jamie Dornan is Will Scarlett and Eve Hewson has taken the role of Maid Marian.

“The story will center on Robin Hood, a war-hardened crusader who joins a Moorish commander in an audacious revolt against the corrupt English monarchy.”

Otto Bathurst is directing, from a screenplay by Joby Harold, while Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Davisson Killoran, Basil Iwanyk, Tory Tunnell, and Joby Harold are producing.

Mendelsohn is in this week’s aforementioned Rogue One, and will then be seen in the superb drama Una, and then Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of the novel Ready Player One.

Robin Hood: Origins, which is set up over at Lionsgate, will start shooting in 2017 for a release date the following year.
