Mozart in the Jungle’s Alex Timbers to direct ‘Cruella’ live-action film

Mozart in the Jungle’s Alex Timbers has been set by Disney to direct the live-action Cruella de Vil movie over at Disney, so reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Emma Stone is attached to play the lead villain from 101 Dalmatians in the planned film, titled simply Cruella, part of their growing list of animated to live-action adaptations. The film is thought to be an origin story of the famous character, who was last played by Glenn Close in the 1996 live-action film, produced by John Hughes.

It is thought that the new film will be set in the 1980s, so expect lots of influences from that decade, particularly the fashion.

Timbers is the co-creator of Amazon’s Mozart in the Jungle, and directed the Broadway musical adaptation of Rocky and the HBO special The Pee-Wee Herman Show.
