The lead for the upcoming Star Trek: Discovery has been found in Sonequa Martin-Green, who is best known for her work on The Walking Dead as Sasha. The actress will lead the cast of CBS’ upcoming TV show as a Lieutenant Commander on the ship the Discovery, so reports Entertainment Weekly.
She will join the already cast Michelle Yeoh, Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp, Shazad Latif, Mary Chieffo and Chris Obi.
Not too much is known about the upcoming series, though it is thought that it will take place around a decade before the events of the original 1960s Star Trek series. It is said to follow the Federation and Klingon Empire in the midst of an uneasy cold war.
Star Trek Discovery will debut in May on CBS All Access in the US and on Netflix in 188 countries.
Martin-Green can still be seen on The Walking Dead, but could this spell something a little sinister for her character? The second half of season seven debuts in February.
