Actress and socialite Zsa Zsa Gabor dies at the age of 99

Hungarian-born actress and socialite Zsa Zsa Gabor died on Sunday at her home in Los Angeles at the age of 99.

“She did not suffer fools well,” said friend and former publicist Edward Lozzi. “Zsa Zsa Gabor was one tough cookie. Her beautiful lips and mouth would also be her worst enemy when and if she turned on the verbal machine gun. Most of her problems originated from that beautiful mouth…Zsa Zsa Gabor will always be an American icon and the klieg in the Gabor-Hilton dynasty.”

The star had nine marriages over her lifetime, including one to hotel mogul Conrad Hilton (grandfather of Paris), another to actor George Sanders, one to designer Jack Ryan, actor Felipe de Alba, and Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt.

“We tried everything, but her heart just stopped and that was it,” Frederic von Anhalt told the Associated Press. “Even the ambulance tried very hard to get her back, but there was no way.”

Her film roles include the 1962 version of Moulin RougeTouch of EvilQueen of Outer Space, and many more. Her last credited role was herself in the 1996 movie, A Very Brady Sequel.

Rest in peace.
