Bright Lights Starring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds trailer

This coming Sunday night on HBO sees the debut of the documentary Bright Lights: Starring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds, the acclaimed festival documentary that debuted at this past year’s Cannes and Telluride Film Festivals. A trailer for the documentary has just debuted ahead of this weekend’s premiere.

Sadly, we lost both Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds over the Christmas period, so the documentary into both of their lives seems even more poignant now. Here’s the official synopsis, as it was before their untimely deaths.

Carrie Fisher and her mother, Debbie Reynolds, live in the same Beverly Hills compound. The 83-year-old grand dame still has a Las Vegas act, but performing is taking its toll. Carrie’s response is both hilarious and heart-rending. Featuring vintage family films that bring iconic old-world Hollywood to life, as well as extensive vérité footage, the film is directed by Alexis Bloom and Fisher Stevens.

This is heartbreaking to watch because of the events of the last couple of weeks, but it also looks to be a wonderful celebration of both of their lives.

Take a look at the new trailer below.

We’ll keep you updated as we hear of a UK debut.
