R.I.P. Miguel Ferrer: Robocop, Twin Peaks, NCIS actor dead at 61

Miguel Ferrer, the talented character actor of over 40 films, has died of cancer at the age of 61. Ferrer appeared in the 1987 Paul Verhoeven film Robocop, and countless films and TV series since. He was cast in NCIS L.A. as assistant director Owen Granger back in 2012, opposite Chris O’Donnell and L.L. Cool J.

“Today, NCIS: Los Angeles lost a beloved family member,” showrunner R. Scott Gemmill said in a statement (via Deadline). “Miguel was a man of tremendous talent who had a powerful dramatic presence on screen, a wicked sense of humor, and a huge heart.  Our thoughts go out to his wife Lori, his sons, and his entire family.  He will be greatly missed.”

Ferrer also appeared in the likes of Magnum, P.I., CHiPS, Cagney & LaceyHeartbreaker, The Man Who Wasn’t There, Star Trek: III: The Search for Spock and Twin Peaks in 1990, where he is remembered for his role as Albert Rosenfeld. He is expected to reprise that role in this year’s follow-on series.

For many, he will be remembered for his sleazy 80s yuppie Bob Morton in Verhoeven’s classic film Robocop.

The actor is survived by wife Lori, and his sons Lukas and Rafi.

May he rest in peace.
