The Star Wars Episode 8 official title has been revealed. The eighth film in the series will be called Star Wars: The Last Jedi, according to Disney.
Rian Johnson is directing for the studio and Lucasfilm, and the film will be released in cinemas on December 15th, 2017. It will be the follow-on from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and continues the saga of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill).
Adam Driver‘s Kylo Ren, Andy Serkis‘s Supreme Leader Snoke, Domhnall Gleeson‘s General Hux are all expected to return, as is Daisy Ridley as Rey, and John Boyega as Finn. Also returning is Carrie Fisher, Lupita Nyong’o, Oscar Isaac, Anthony Daniels, and Gwendoline Christie.New cast members include Academy Award winner Benicio Del Toro, Academy Award nominee Laura Dern, and newcomer Kelly Marie Tran.
The news of the title was revealed on StarWars.com earlier today.

THE LAST JEDI is written and directed by Rian Johnson and produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman and executive produced by J.J. Abrams, Jason McGatlin, and Tom Karnowski.
STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI is scheduled for release December 15, 2017.
