Every Which Way But Loose remake: The original film’s director James Fargo is producing, and The Sex Trip’s Anthony G. Cohen is set to direct.
An Every Which Way But Loose remake is on the way from director Anthony G. Cohen and producer James Fargo. The planned motion picture will be a redo of the very successful 1970s movie which starred Clint Eastwood and an orangutan named Clyde.
The film saw Eastwood play the character of Philo Beddoe, a trucker travelling across the American west in search of his lost love. Jeffrey Lewis was also in the movie as Orville, Beddoe’s friend, who just so had a pet orangutan named Clyde. It banked an impressive haul from a budget of only $5 million.
Every Which Way But Loose bagged an impressive $95 million in box-office revenues back in 1978 and spawned a sequel, naturally, Every Which Way You Can two years later.
Cohen’s last project was the The Sex Trip, which was released last year, while Fargo was the director of many Clint Eastwood’s earlier movies, including Every Which Way But Loose and The Enforcer.
“I have been interviewing directors for over a year and as soon as I watched Cohen’s film The Sex Trip … I knew instantly he was the right director for this picture,” Fargo said in a statement to Deadline. “I was very impressed with his film and his directing style.”
The Sex Trip, which so far hasn’t been released in the UK, followed a shallow womaniser who, after refusing a mysterious homeless woman’s request for a kiss, he wakes up the next morning to discover he’s been changed into a woman.
We have no cast news for the Every Which Way But Loose remake at the moment as it is in its very early stages of development, but we’ll keep you posted. Shooting is however expected to start in the spring, so expect that news pretty soon.
