Exclusive Interview: Taron Egerton on career choices, dancing and ‘Sing’

Taron Egerton interview: The Kingsman and future Robin Hood star on making important career choices, dancing, love of musicals, accents in Eddie The Eagle, and Johnny the gorilla in ‘Sing’.

Earlier this morning we posted our Garth Jennings interview for his impressive debut animation Sing, a film that we adore, and now we can share this Taron Egerton interview which we conducted for the same film.

In Sing, Egerton voices the character of Johnny the mountain gorilla, a music love who competes in a singing contest. The film also stars the likes of Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Seth MacFarlane, Scarlett Johansson and John C. Reilly, and really is one of the best films opening at the cinema in the UK this week.

Dapper Koala Buster Moon presides over a once-grand theater that has fallen on hard times. An eternal optimist, and a bit of a scoundrel, he loves his theater above all and will do anything to preserve it. Facing the crumbling of his life’s ambition, he takes one final chance to restore his fading jewel to its former glory by producing the world’s greatest singing competition. Five contestants emerge: a mouse, a timid elephant, a pig, a gorilla and a punk-rock porcupine.

You can read our Sing review from the Toronto International Film Festival at the end of the link – spoiler alert – we really, really liked it, and it really is a treat for all of the family. It will have families lining up to see it come Friday, and have them toe-tapping all of the way through it… it really has the feel-good ‘X-Factor’; a pleasing, well-cast, animated feature from Jennings and co.  that has hit written all over it.

Watch our Taron Egerton interview below and check out this awesome film in cinemas from Friday 27th January 2017.
