Trolls 2 a go at Universal for 2020

Trolls review

Universal have a vision for 2020 and have greenlit a sequel to last year’s break-out animation hit Trolls. The sequel to the film, which saw Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake lead the voice cast as trolls Poppy and Branch, will hit cinemas on April 20th, 2020.

There are no details as to who will direct the film as yet – the original’s director Mike Mitchell has signed up for The LEGO Movie Sequel, so his availability may be limited, but both of the aforementioned actors are said to be returning.

The original film was even Oscar-nominated – it was up for the Best Song Oscar award this year for Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” We’d expect the sequel to follow the music-themed nature of the first film, and we certainly hope that Timberlake is involved with that once again following his huge success in producing the soundtrack for the first film.

There’s no other news apart from that at this very early stage, but we’ll keep you updated.
