Edward James Olmos is returning for Blade Runner 2049

Edward James Olmos will appear in the forthcoming Blade Runner 2049, reprising the role of Gaff from the original 1980s movie. The actor, who is also starring in the new Sons Of Anarchy spin-off Mayans MC, spoke with Trend Talk about the upcoming sci-fi sequel

“I signed a seven page non-disclosure contract. I did, my manager did, my agent did, everybody did. I couldn’t talk about it. I couldn’t talk about it to anybody about it. Guess what? This is the first time that I’m telling the whole world, that yes, I am going to be Gaff in Blade Runner 2049.”

It does sound like the role in the new Blade Runner movie is even briefer than his appearance in the original though.

“Well, it’s not about Gaff, but it’s about someone who is going to try to find out certain things about us back then. My role is like it was in the original – that time I only had four scenes, in this I only have one. But again, it’s a poignant little scene,” Olmos added.

Denis Villeneuve is directing the new film, which arrives in cinemas on October 6, 2017. The film stars Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Carla Juri, Lennie James, with Dave Bautista and Jared Leto.
