Jeffrey Dean Morgan joins Dwayne Johnson in Rampage

Jeffrey Dean Morgan

The Walking Dead‘s Negan has joined the cast of Rampage, the planned adaptation of the video game headed up by Dwayne Johnson. Morgan will play the role of Agent Russell in the film, a government official with attitude who works for an agency known as OGA.

Malin Ackerman and Moonlight‘s Naomie Harris are also amongst the cast of the movie, as is Joe Manganiello, Marley Shelton, Jake Lacy, PJ Byrne, Jack Quaid, Matt Gerald and Breanne Hill. Shooting will take place in Atlanta later this month, so fits in well with the actor’s schedule with The Walking Dead, and his return as Negan.

Rampage is being directed by Brad Peyton, who directed Johnson on Journey 2: The Mysterious Island and the action/ disaster movie San Andreas. Ryan Condal and Carlton Cuse wrote the script for the film, which, like the game, will feature three monsters: A giant ape named George; a giant lizard name Lizzy; or a giant werewolf named Ralph. The film is adapted from the 1986 arcade game by Bally Midway, one where players take control of gigantic monsters trying to survive against onslaughts of military forces. Each round is completed when a particular city is completely reduced to rubble. The original game spawned many sequels in the years that followed, each one delivering bigger and badder monsters for players to take on.

Rampage will be released on April 20th, 2018. We’ll bring you more news as it comes in.
