A couple of weeks ago, The Hollywood News was granted a look inside the new Star Wars Identities exhibition at the O2 in London. Running until September 2017, the exhibition features dozens of props from the original Star Wars trilogy, the prequels that followed, and of course Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which was released in 2015.
The O2 is just one of the twelve destinations that the new exhibition takes in (more venues will be announced soon) and offers visitors to immerse themselves into the world of the magnificent Star Wars. The event is more than an exhibition, and offers tons of interactivity for visitors of all ages.
When we arrived at the entrance gate, we were given our own personal wristband to guide us on our mission to create our own identity within the world of Star Wars. An audio earpiece guides us on our journey throughout this engaging multi-room adventure, and we are offered the chance to create our very own Star Wars character based on characteristics, feelings and other familiar elements from the movies.
In all there are 200 objects from the movies – from the famous carbonite that Han Solo was frozen in from The Empire Strikes Back, to the models used to create some of the iconic space battles in all three of the original movies. There’s also the life-size Yoda model, and of course the towering Darth Vader who greets you as you approach the exhibition’s exit doors.
Here’s a little peek inside the exhibition…
