U.S. network channel NBC has put in an order for 12 episodes of the Will & Grace TV revival set for later this year, so reports Deadline. It was announced earlier this year that the network had officially asked for a ten-episode run, but now it looks like we’re in for a couple of extra bonus episodes featuring the likes of Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Megan Mullally and Sean Hayes. More on the new Will and Grace TV series below.
Will & Grace first graced our TV screens back in 1998 from creators Max Mutchnick and David Kohan, and revolved around Will Truman (McCormack), a gay lawyer, and Grace Adler (Messing), a straight interior designer. The series, one of the first to feature a lead gay character, ran for eight seasons until 2006, and was nominated for no less than 83 Primetime Emmy Awards (winning 16) throughout its run.
The timeless show captured audiences, and remains close to millions of hearts in the 11 years since it last aired. The comedy will come back to screens very soon for its delayed ninth run with Mutchnick and Kohan returning, as well as director/ executive producer James Burrows.
The news came via Deadline who discovered that the reprisal was front and centre on NBCUniversal’s upfront spots, which was unveiled late yesterday. You can check out a promo which features the new Will and Grace TV series below.
Will & Grace had a brief re-birth last September 26th, where a mini-episode was produced for the election season where we were encouraged to #VoteHoney. It was well received, and possibly a huge catalyst for its return to the network in 2017.
We’ll bring you more on the new Will and Grace TV series as it comes our way.
