Mission Impossible 6 filming

The sixth film in the hit action-spy movie series, which began all of the way back in 1996 with Brian De Palma’s Mission: Impossible, sees the return of some of the characters from the last movie. Of course, Tom Cruise returns to the role of Ethan Hunt, and will be joined by the likes of Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Henry Cavill, Alec Baldwin, Vanessa Kirby, Sian Brooke and Sean Harris. Frederick Schmidt, who was last seen in Supergirl as Metallo, is also amongst the high-profile cast.

The Mission: Impossible movies are a huge deal for Paramount Pictures, all five of which have so far brought in nearly $2.8 billion for the studio over the years. The most popular domestically was John Woo’s second instalment, which took in $215 million in its home territory, closely followed by ‘Ghost Protocol’, which made $209 million.

Not much is known about the plot of the new film as yet, but according to a report recently, Cruise has been reportedly preparing for a high-octane stunt for more than a year, which suggest that we’re to expect something spectacular, a bit like his hanging from a moving plane in ‘Rogue Nation’ and his bungee-run down the Burj Khalifa in Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol in 2012.

The new film will bow in cinemas on July 27th 2018. More on the Mission Impossible 6 filming as it continues. Here’s the official announcement from writer/ director Christopher McQuarrie’s Twitter – an update which features an image taken by director of photography Robert Hardy. It is time to light the fuse!
