Fast and Furious spin-off confirmed!
It was rumoured, but then plans seemed to be scuppered, but a Fast and Furious spin-off film featuring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham is definitely in the works at Universal. Well, of course it is!

The two actors were easily the best thing about Fast and Furious 8, and we can’t wait to see what’s in store come the release of the spin-off, which we’re assuming will be wedged in somewhere between Fast 9 and 10, which hare already confirmed.
The Fast and Furious franchise, which currently stretches to 8 films over 16 years, has made a whopping $4.5 billion, and it is still growing – expected ‘8’ aka The Fate Of The Furious to easily tip that close to the $5 billion mark.
Deadline reports that the Fast and Furious spin-off will follow Johnson’s US Diplomatic Security Agent Luke Hobbs who forms an unlikely alliance with Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw. The trade blog adds that the movie could conceivably be made while they are figuring the next ‘Fast’ film.

Early scenes with him and Statham’s returning Deckard Shaw are a definite highlight, the banter between the two hilarious to watch play out, but it actually Statham who later steals the show in a thrilling climactic action scene, one involving a very unique accessory.
We’d be up for paying out to see them in a movie together, as I’m sure the millions of Fast and Furious fans over the world would too.
Of course Dwayne Johnson has a huge workload ahead of him, with movies like Rampage, a film based on Disney’s Jungle Cruise, high-rise actioner Skyscraper, Journey 3: From the Earth to the Moon and more on the horizon.
