James Wan is producing the Resident Evil reboot

James Wan has come aboard the Resident Evil reboot over at Constatin Films and Screen Gems. The Conjuring and Fast and Furious 7 helmer will add his pedigree to the planned rebirth of the movies, which is being scripted by Greg Russo, a name also associated with Wan-produced movies like Lights Out, Annabelle and Saw, on which he was also a producer.

The new Resident Evil movie will be a complete reboot and feature an entirely new cast. The previous instalments in the franchise, also housed Constantin Films and Screen Gems, have made a cool $1.2 billion at the box-office over the six movies. The last film in the series, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, was released earlier this year.

Wan is currently hard at work directing the Warner Bros. DC spin-off Aquaman.

The news of Wan’s addition was released via Deadline.
