Tron helmer may be the man to direct the Top Gun sequel

We reported yesterday that Tom Cruise is definitely looking to bring a sequel to his 1986 star-maker Top Gun to screens very soon, and even suggested that filming could kick off within a year, but there have been some further developments overnight linking his Oblivion helmer Joseph Kosinski to the director’s chair.

Variety are reporting that the filmmaker, who also brought Tron: Legacy to cinemas for Disney, is the front-runner to direct the film for Paramount Pictures and producer Jerry Bruckheimer, a movie that will reunite him with Tom Cruise.

That’s kind of all we have at the moment, but he is definitely a solid filmmaker to bring a new Top Gun movie to screens.

We’ll keep you posted of any further developments.
