Jessica Chastain is reportedly in talks to join the next X-Men movie X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Deadline report the news that Simon Kinberg has signed on the dotted line to write and direct X-Men: Dark Phoenix, which will bring back most of the cast of X-Men: Apocalypse – James McAvoy (Professor X), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), and Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler).
They say that Chastain will play the main villain, Shi’ar Empress Lilandra in the film, which will roll into production, possibly next year. According to this Marvel Wikia, Princess-Majestrix Lilandra Neramani ‘was a member of the royal family of the Shi’ar Empire, which was governed by the extraterrestrial Shi’ar race and controlled all known inhabited planets in the galaxy in which the Shi’ar dwelled. Lilandra was born on the world called the Aerie, the planet on which the Shi’ar race originated. The Empire was ruled from an artificial planet called Chandilar, the Imperial Throneworld.’
Kinberg wrote X: Men: The Last Stand; he wrote and produced X-Men: Days of Future Past, and X-Men: Apocalypse, and was also producer on Deadpool. X-Men: Dark Phoenix will be his directorial debut.
