The Predator is coming. In 2018 we’ll have a brand new Predator movie on the big screen, and we’re hoping that it will be pretty darned awesome. Shane Black, who starred in the original movie as well as writing such classics as Lethal Weapon, The Last Boy Scout and, more recently, The Nice Guys. The film is being called a restart rather than a reboot, very much in the same way as what they did with Jurassic World, and one of the stars of the film has been talking about how the movie will connect with Predator 2, the 1990s sequel that was led by Danny Glover, supported by a cast that included Gary Busey. Gary Busey’s son, Jake has been speaking about his role in the new movie, and it seems that he is a direct relation to father Gary’s role in the Stephen Hopkins-helmed action sequel, released in 1990. Jake’s character is the son of Gary’s Peter Keyes, the hard-ass who headed up the Other World Lifeforms Taskforce in the previous movie.
Speaking to The Red Booth, Jake spoke about bagging the part in the movie.
“Shane Black called me and he said ‘Hey, you wanna do this movie? We don’t have money for you but it’ll be a fun thing to come play and be your father’s son.’ And so as much as I have followed in my Dad’s footsteps career-wise, this is like really following in his footsteps by playing a character who is the son of the character he played. And I don’t think there would be any other forum where I would do that. I think this is the one thing.”
“We shot it up in Vancouver, and they were there doing it for about three or four months, but I was up there for three weeks,” he added. “I play a scientist in the film, and I’m very excited about it. I think it’s going to be great. If you liked the very first movie a lot, you’ll really like this one. This one has a lot of essence of the first movie.”

The Predator will be released in the summer of 2018 and will feature the likes of Boyd Holbrook, Thomas Jane, Trevante Rhodes, Keegan Michael Key, Alfie Allen, Sterling K. Brown, Olivia Munn and Jacob Tremblay amongst the cast. The actual date for your diary is August 3rd 2018.
