Reports surfaced online overnight that the soon-to-start-shooting Avatar 2, just one of four new sequels, will be the first high-profile Hollywood movie to be projected in 3D with the audience not having to wear glasses. The news comes from Inquisitr who say that Lightstorm Entertainment and James Cameron, deemed to be one of the most innovative filmmakers of his generation, will use the services of Christie Digital’s RGB laser projection system, which employs the use of bright images projecting at a high frame rate that excludes the need for glasses. “In addition to the latest in projection technologies, Christie is fully committed to sharing our ongoing research and development efforts, including product roadmaps, with our co-visionary, Lightstorm, so that its productions will repeat the awe-inspiring success of Avatar in the years to come,” said president and CEO of Christie, Jack Kline to the website.
Most of Avatar 2 is said to be set underwater and has war-themed plot with prisons, apparently. The four Avatar sequels will start shooting this September and will be filmed back-to-back with Cameron at the helm.
“At the heart of any movie are the characters. One of the strengths of great scripts are always the universal and relatable themes… There’s no more relatable theme than family. At the center of each of our four movies will be the Sully family,” producer Jon Landau said in a recent interview. He added:
“Each sequel will play as a stand-alone movie. Each movie’s story will come to its own conclusion… However, when looked at as a whole, the journey across all four movies will create an even larger connected epic saga for audiences around the world.”
Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Joel David Moore, Stephen Lang, Sigourney Weaver, Cliff Curtis and Oona Chaplin will be amongst the impressive cast.
The Avatar sequels will take up your Decembers for the next few years starting on December 18th 2020 when Avatar 2 will be released, and then December 17th 2021, December 20th 2024 and December 19th 2025.
