It’s Friday afternoon and by now we’re all more than ready for the weekend, but before we break-up for a load of cinema viewing, the organisers of Frightfest have given us an early treat as the official 2017 line-up has been announced!
Frightfest Line-up Announced
The film festival, which celebrates the dark heart of cinema, returns to London’s Leicester Square after a year away, and returns to it’s old home of the Empire, now known as the Cineworld Empire. As there are so many films the festival will also take over the Prince Charles Cinema. The event runs from Thursday 24th August – Monday 28th August, hosting over 60 films, with key talent for almost all in attendance. Weekend and day passes will go on-sale at noon on Saturday 1st July, meaning you have less than 24 hours to decide if you’re going or not. Tickets for single films will be able to purchase from 29th July.
It really is the horror event of the year for UK genre fans. We ourselves have been looking forwards to this announcement all week and even went so far as to try and predict what might be showing this year. The wait and the guessing games are finally over and it seems that once again the Frightfest team have smashed it out of the park with their line-up.
The four-day fright-a-thon will start with Cult of Chucky and then conclude with Tragedy Girl. Other big films of the festival have to be 68 Kill, Mayhem and Replace, all of which we predicted.
Frightfest Line-up Announced
In addition to the festival returning to Leicester Square, there’s also two very familiar film characters making a comeback at this years festival. Firstly, there’s the return of killer doll Chucky in Cult of Chucky and then there’s Leatherface, which sees The Texas Chainsaw Massacre tormentor get the origin story treatment.
Not content with all these brand-new movies, Frightfest, as always, are offering the opportunity to see some old school cult classics with films such as Return of the Living Dead 3 and Hatchet screening over the weekend.

Festival passes for £195 and day passes from £33 will be available from July 1st, followed by single tickets for £14.25 on July 29. For more information head here.
