‘Sons Of Anarchy’ Spin-Off To Undergo Major Pilot Reshoots

Reports are coming in that the pilot episode of Sons Of Anarchy TV spin-off Mayans M.C. is to undergo major reshoots. The word on the street (aka Variety) is that the pilot will actually be completely reshot, with it also recasting certain key roles. More on the Mayans MC pilot news below.

Mayans MC pilot: First episode to be completely reshot

Key roles in the pilot are currently played by JD Pardo, Edward James Olmos, Richard Cabral, John Ortiz, Antonio Jaramillo and Clayton Cardenas, though it is not yet known which ones will be recast at this stage.

What we do know, via the trade, is that Norberto Barba has been brought on as an executive producer and director for the pilot. Sons Of Anarchy and Mayans M.C. creator Kurt Sutter did initially plan to helm, but he will focus on the writing side of things for now.

The planned show will follow EZ Reyes, a prospect — potential member — for the Mayans charter on the California-Mexico border. EZ will struggle with his desire for vengeance against the local cartel and his need for the women in his life to respect him.

The original show, Sons Of Anarchy, went through a similar process. Its pilot, made all of the way back in 2008, originally had Scott Glenn as motorcycle club president Clay Morrow before Ron Perlman eventually assumed the role. Sons Of Anarchy eventually won over its audience and spawned no less than seven seasons, the last one airing in December of 2014.

We’re not sure how to read the Mayans MC pilot reshoot news, but we can only presume it is for the good of the show and the ensure that it is right before the full series rolls out. We’re massive fans of Sons, so let’s hope for similar goodness with the spin-off.
