Report: Ben Affleck’s Future As Batman May Be In Doubt

Ben Affleck’s future as Batman/ Bruce Wayne may be in doubt if a report over at The Hollywood Reporter is to be believed. The article, which is posted just before Warner Bros. are about to take to the stage at the San Diego Comic Con.

Affleck will be seen in the forthcoming Justice League, which arrives in November, but past then… who knows?

The report quotes Warners’ film studio chief Toby Emmerich as saying: “Ben is our Batman. We love him as Batman. We want to keep him in the cowl as long as we can.”

However, later on in the same piece, it reads:

“…a source with knowledge of the situation says that the studio is working on plans to usher out Affleck’s Batman — gracefully, addressing the change in some shape or form in one of the upcoming DC films.

Exactly when and how that might happen has yet to be determined, but it would be wise to bet against Affleck starring in The Batman. He has already stepped away from directing the film and Reeves is dropping the script that Affleck wrote with D.C. Entertainment’s Geoff Johns.”

Of course, we need to take this with a pinch of salt as this stage as the studio’s official line is that Affleck is very much their Batman. We’ll keep you updated.
