Three Directors Short-Listed For The 25th James Bond Movie

The Hollywood trade papers are reporting that three directors are leading the way to helm the next James Bond movie, which we reported earlier this week has a release date set for November 2019.

Denis Villenueve (Sicario, Arrival), David MacKenzie (Hell or High Water, Starred Up) and Yann Demange (’71, White Boy Rick) are the names on the wish-list over at Eon Productions. The word on the stree (or in Variety), is the that Yann Demange is the frontrunner to take over the next installment, which should see Daniel Craig return for a fifth time as 007.

The trade also reports that Warner Brothers is the potential new home for the Bond franchise after the series’ distribution deal with Sony Pictures came to a close following the release of the last Bond adventure SPECTRE back in 2015.

That movie grossed $880 million at the worldwide box office, while its predecessor Skyfall brought in a whopping $1.1 billion worldwide.

The word is that a director will be in place shortly for pre-production to move forward ready for a 2018 shoot.

More as it comes in.
