Taron Egerton’s ‘Robin Hood: Origins’ Pushed Back Six Months

The upcoming Robin Hood-themed movie with Taron Egerton in the lead has been pushed back six months from a March 2018 release to a September 21st, 2018 bow.

The film, which will be released by Lionsgate, will center on Robin Hood being a war-hardened crusader and joining with a Moorish commander in an audacious revolt against the corrupt English crown.

The Otto Bathurst-directed pic had a bit presence at the Cannes Film Festival back in May with one of the big hotels on the Croisette being draped in sales material for the entire run.

Variety reports the news of the release date change, but there isn’t a specific reason given for the new bow. Its original release would have seen it clash with the big release of the sequel to Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim. As it stands, Goosebumps 2 is the only other film scheduled for release on September 21st.
