Are Warner Bros. Looking At Leonardo DiCaprio To Play The Joker?

Warner Brothers Pictures and DC Films are reportedly looking at Oscar-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio to play The Joker in the planned movie of the same name being directed by Todd Phillips and potentially produced by Martin Scorsese.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, ‘Warners will make an ambitious attempt to use Scorsese to bring Leonardo DiCaprio into the world of comic-book movies’. This has not been confirmed by anyone in the actor’s camp and an offer hasn’t yet been made, according to sources at the trade.

They also add that Scorsese’s deal to produce isn’t even done yet. They say that Phillips would want DiCaprio or another A-lister to play the character as a gritty crime boss in a Scorsese-esque Gotham underworld, which could lead to multiple movies in a new series.

Jared Leto is also said to be reprising the role of the Joker for a spin-off to the Suicide Squad film from last summer, which grossed over $700 million worldwide.  A sequel to the movie is also in the works.
