One of the burning questions on everyone’s lips is whether Shia LaBeouf‘s character is going to be in the next Indiana Jones movie, which is currently being written by David Koepp. Well, the screenwriter has been speaking with Entertainment Weekly and has stated that Mutt Williams, who LaBeouf played in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull, will definitely not be returning. More on the Shia LaBeouf Indiana Jones 5 news below.
Shia LaBeouf Indiana Jones 5 News: Mutt Williams Will Not Return
“Harrison plays Indiana Jones, that I can certainly say… and the Shia LaBeouf character is not in the film,” Koepp said. But what’s the status of the film? “We’re plugging away at it. In terms of when we would start, I think that’s up to Mr. Spielberg and Mr. Ford… I know we’ve got a script we’re mostly happy with. Work will be endless, of course, and ongoing, and Steven just finished shooting The Post… If the stars align, hopefully it’ll be his next film.”
The screenwriter also had something to say what artifact Jones would be on the hunt for in the planned movie. “Some precious artifact that they’re all looking for,” Koepp added.
Obviously, Koepp is keeping his cards very close to his chest, but we do know that Steven Spielberg is very much returning to make his fifth Indiana Jones adventure, which is headed to cinemas in the summer of 2020. Personally, I had expected LaBeouf’s character to return, especially reviewing the events at the end of ‘Crystal Skull.’
It’ll certainly be interesting to see where Koepp, Lucasfilm, Disney et al take the franchise from here. One thing’s for sure, a future that leads to more than one more movie is inevitable.
As always, we’ll keep you posted with any further details. ‘Indiana Jones 5’ will release in cinemas on July 10, 2020.
