A Live Action ‘Sonic The Hedgehog’ Movie Is In The Works

Fast & Furious series producer Neil Moritz and Deadpool director Tim Miller are developing a live-action Sonic The Hedgehog movie over at Paramount Pictures. Miller is executive producing and Jeff Fowler (a partner of Miller’s at Blur Studios)will make his directorial debut on the movie. The project moves to Paramount after Sony Pictures recently put the project into ‘turnaround’.

The Hollywood Reporter reports the latest news. The planned film ‘centers on Sonic and his friends, such as Tails and Knuckles, who run around collecting items and points as they attempt to foil the global domination plans of Doctor Eggman Robotnik. The game was first released by SEGA in 1991, with the character becoming one of the world’s biggest gaming icons’. More than 360 million copies of the game have been sold on various formats around the world, and continue to delight to this very day.

The new movie will apparently blend live-action and CGI elements. No further details on the plot were available.
