The Gamified Messaging Platform Whipper, a highly irreverent play and chat messaging platform that empowers users to speak and interact with their friends as any character they want to be —real or imaginary, was featured onstage today at Google’s Firestore Dev Summit. The technology involves proprietary deep learning, speech, and audio processing elements, and is led by a founding team of Executives and Advisors hailing from Viber, Riot Games/Tencent, Netflix, NewsCorp, Swiftkey, Amazon, and Expedia.
Whipper leveraged Google Firebase for its mobile offering and was named a partner in Google’s Firestore public beta launch.
“Whipper is honored to be invited by Google to demonstrate how leveraging Firebase was instrumental to our early and present development,” remarked CTO Romans Bermans. “Whipper has been leveraging Firebase/Firestore in some pretty innovative ways, and we caught Google’s attention early. They have been terrific sounding and advisory boards for us.”
“The Firebase Dev Summit coincidentally fell on October 31st” added Whipper’s CPO, David McKinley. “As we empower communities of gamers, streamers, film and television super-fans to leverage Whipper and take on the attributes of their favorite personalities and characters, we’re essentially letting them ‘virtual cosplay’. One of our mottos is that ‘every-day is Halloween at Whipper’, so it’s serendipitous that Halloween lines up with the summit.”
Along with Whipper, Trivago, CNN, Shazam, and the Home and Away™ travel site were also featured onstage as early Firestore adoptees and partners.
