He’s played lotharios, vicious villains and movie heroes, but he’s never appeared in a Marvel movie, until now. Jude Law has joined the cast of Captain Marvel, the upcoming stand-alone Marvel Studios movie set to go into production next year for a 2019 release. Jude Law Captain Marvel News! He Will Play Doctor Walter Lawson In Forthcoming Movie
The character that Law will not be the villain of the piece as Ben Mendelsohn has already been signed up for that role. Instead, he will play Doctor Walter Lawson, a.k.a. Mar-Vell, who becomes a mentor of sorts to Brie Larson‘s Carol Danvers/ Captain Marvel as she tries to figure out her new powers.
The film will be set in the 1990s with Samuel L. Jackson expected to reprise his role as Nick Fury.

Law continues to dominate the big blockbusters of 2018 and beyond. He has already signed up to play and is shooting the follow up to Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald. In that big-budget piece, he will play the younger version of Albus Dumbledore, a role played in the Harry Potter movies by Richard Harris and then Michael Gambon. He is also attached to reprise his role as Doctor Watson in a third Sherlock Holmes movie opposite Tony Stark himself, Robert Downey Jr. Both of those films are set up at Warner Brothers.
Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (Half Nelson) are directing Captain Marvel with Kevin Feige producing for the studio. The film has a released date set Stateside for March 8, 2019.
