Paul Bettany May Be The New Prince Phillip In ‘The Crown’

The Crown season 3 may have found its new Prince Phillip in Paul Bettany. The source for the potential casting is none other than the Daily Mail in the UK who say that the Avengers and Solo: A Star Wars Story actor is in active negotiations for the part, played by Matt Smith in the first two seasons.

Here’s the tweet that started the new rumours.

Season 3 already has Olivia Colman in the other lead as Queen Elizabeth in the Netflix series with production set to start very soon.

Based on an award-winning play (‘The Audience’) by show runner Peter Morgan, this lavish, Netflix-original drama chronicles the life of Queen Elizabeth II (Claire Foy) from the 1940s to modern times. The series begins with an inside look at the early reign of the queen, who ascended the throne at age 25 after the death of her father, King George VI. As the decades pass, personal intrigues, romances, and political rivalries are revealed that played a big role in events that shaped the later years of the 20th century.

We’ll bring you more news as we get it.
