Amazon Are Planning A New ‘Conan The Barbarian’ Series

Amazon Prime Video are reportedly planning a new series based on the book series Conan The Barbarian. TV Line reports that the new show, which will be live-action and based on Robert E. Howard’s original books, comes 20 years after he was last seen on small screens.

The film versions, Conan The Barbarian and Conan The Destroyer, both hit the big screen in the 1980s with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the title role. Jason Momoa played the role in a stand-alone 2011 version.

The site reports that the new series, which will stay close to the source material, will tell the story of a tribal warrior who “wanders the mysterious and treacherous world of civilisation where he searches for purpose in a place that rejects him as a mindless savage.”

Ryan Condal (Colony), Miguel Sapochnik (Game of Thrones) and Warren Littlefield (The Handmaid’s Tale) are the creative team behind the new series. No news on casting and start dates at this early stage though, but we’ll obviously keep you posted.
