Netflix Bags Zombie Film ‘Cargo’, Starring Martin Freeman

Netflix has acquired the Martin Freeman-led zombie apocalypse film Cargo. The news comes from genre website Bloody Disgusting, who also have some further details on the plot.

The film revolves around “…a father who, stranded in rural Australia in the aftermath of a violent pandemic and, infected himself, desperately seeks a new home for his infant child and a means to protect her from his own changing nature.

They add that, for his character, “Salvation may lie with an isolated Aboriginal tribe, but to gain access he must first earn the allegiance of a young Indigenous girl on a tragic quest of her own.

The film will now be screened on the streamer internationally later in the year. It will debut at the Tribeca Film Festival in April.
