Peter Rabbit has managed to cling on to the top spot at the UK box-office for the fourth week in a row. The Easter holidays in the UK are swinging in the favour of the movie featuring characters created by Beatrix Potter, the film adding another £3.2 million to its total British haul, which stands at a whopping £32.3 million.
Spielberg’s Ready Player One stuck at number two with another£2.4 million in the bank – its UK haul now standing at £11.5 million after two weeks.
John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place was the highest new entry, the horror film managing to bag the number three spot, opening up behind the top two blockbusters – not bad considering its $17 million budget (reported). Along with the $50 million already taken domestically, the film stands at being one of the sleeper hits of the year.
Another new entry filled the number four spot, 20th Century Fox’s Love, Simon, the romantic comedy opening to reasonably positive reviews and pulling in a decent £1.2 million in its first weekend.
Rounding out the top five this week in the UK is Wes Anderson’s Isle Of Dogs, the stop-motion adventure adding £840k to its total, which now stands at £3.9 million after just two weeks.
Elsewhere, BPM (Beats Per Minute) a big fave of ours from last year’s Cannes Film Festival, opened to £76,508 from 33 venues across the country, and an average of £2.3k per venue, which is pretty strong for a foreign language limited release.
Other new entries included the excellent Ghost Stories, which opened to £537,040 from 397 locations, and the Vertigo release Death Wish, which made £152,406 from its 209 venues.
