Brian Henson Updates Us On ‘Labyrinth’ Sequel Plans & Musical Version Of Original

Brian Henson has been speaking to Forbes about the long-running plans to bring a sequel to the much-loved 1980s movie Labyrinth to the screen. He was speaking to Simon Thompson over at the website as the original film heads back to cinemas in the U.S. for three days only.

When Thompson as Henson for an update on the sequel to the beloved film, wich featured the late David Bowie, here’s what Henson, son of the legendary Jim Henson, who directed the original, had to say.

“There isn’t really an update. I can say we are still excited about it but the process moves very slowly and very carefully. We’re still excited about the idea of a sequel, we are working on something but nothing that’s close enough to say it’s about to be in pre-production or anything like that. We are working on a theatrical adaptation of the original movie for the stage. Those are the two areas of excitement for the Labyrinth property that we have. We are working on both of those but I certainly don’t have a timeline for them.”

Henson was asked if the musical was being aimed for Broadway, or elsewhere. The UK was mentioned.

“Not necessarily Broadway, it could be for London’s West End, but it will be a stage show, a big theatrical version. It’s very exciting,” Henson added.
