‘Jigsaw’ Star Gets ‘Rabid’ In Soska Sisters’ Cronenberg Remake

The Soska Sisters are a well-known in horror circles. The ‘Twisted Twins’ gained notoriety through their debut feature Dead Hooker in a Trunk, before cementing themselves as a pair to watch with the fantastically dark Katharine Issabelle film – American Mary. Since then they’ve collaborated with various filmmakers for a segment in The ABCs of Death 2 and with the WWE for Kane vehicle See No Evil 2, but it’s their next project that will once again turn heads. The sisters are currently hard at work on a remake of David Cronenberg’s Rabid, and have just announced their leading lady, Laura Vandervoort.

Most recently seen in Jigsaw, Vandervoort will of course be known to many for her work in TV. Depending on your tastes, you’ll either know her as werewolf Elena Michaels in Bitten, Visitor Lisa in the remake of V, or as Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, in Smallville. Now she gets to sink her teeth into the Rabid remake wherein she is cast in the role of Rose.

Drawing influence from the original movie, the remake will follow Rose, a young woman whom, after an accident leaves her scarred beyond recognition, undergoes a radical untested stem-cell treatment. Despite turning Rose into the belle of the ball, the experimental transformation comes at a price.

The remake is said to be giving a modern and relevant spin on the film from the women’s perspective, and is already being described as uniquely chilling and captivating.
