WWE wrestler turned actor John Cena is to join screen legend Jackie Chan in a new action movie currently going by the name of ‘Project X’. The news of the pairing comes via The Hollywood Reporter who say that the new movie will be directed by Need For Speed helmer Scott Waugh.
The trade says that the film ‘centers on a Chinese private security contractor (Chan) who is called in to extract the oil workers when a China-run oil refinery in the Middle East is attacked. When he learns that the attackers’ real plan is to steal a fortune in oil, he teams up with an American — a former Marine played by John Cena — to stop them.’
Cena replaces Sylvester Stallone, who was previously attached as the former Marine.
Chan is also set to co-produce the movie. Cena will next be seen in Transformers spin-off Bumblebee, and then the Robert Ludlum thriller The Janson Directive.
The ‘Project X’ movie will reportedly start filming this month.
More as it comes in.
